FIRST SHOT LIST:

 

COUNCELLOR ROOM - THERAPIST'S SCENE

 

Tripod:

Follow 180 degree rule

  • shot through the door window- focused on the grid but slowly focusing on nathan (check if can hear dialogue: Nathan?)

  • POV shot of the therapist Dialogue:Nathan

  • mid shot of Nathan, counsellor’s POV

  • side shot, close up of the therapist Dialogue: I haven't seen you in a while, what's happened?

  • over the shoulder shot of therapist showing Nathan, looks uncomfortable

  • close up on face (once with eyes open, once with eyes closing)

Change to other side of room

  • slightly high angle - mid shot of side profile of Nathan - appears distressed, starts action

  • mid shot of side profile of counsellor - position has changed, sat forward - dialogue: how are you parents feeling?

  • Arc shot with him in center of room he looks around the room first up then left and right

FINAL SHOT LIST:

 

FARM OUTBUILDING - HANDHELD:

 

  • Mid shot: shows Nathan lying on a camp bed from above, suggesting he is being somewhat facilitated by his captor

  • Mid shot: Nathan slowly sits up on the bed showing his disorientation.

  • Wide shot POV: pans from side to side to show Nathan’s surroundings as he looks around at his location, revealing the emptiness of the room

  • Small crane: shows Nathan’s feet seen from underneath the bed and travels upwards as Nathan rises

  • Mid shot: Nathan knocks over a tankard of water with his foot

  • Close up: Nathan places the tankard back in its original place

  • OSS: long take showing Nathan walking towards a door on the other side of the room, suggests there may be hope for escape

  • Close Up: reaction shot as Nathan hears a whisper

  • OSS: Nathan makes it to the door

  • Arc Shot: Nathan tries to get out of the room by trying to force the lock and banging on the door

  • Mid Shot: Nathan reacts to a light bulb smashing

  • Close Up: focus pull to a lit candle

 

Contextual backstory
 

  • OSS: Nathan sits with back to the pole, facing the door to suggest his apprehension because of his unfamiliar surroundings

  • High Angle Mid Shot: Nathan glances towards the corner of the room due to a creaking noise

  • Cutaway: shows bed to reveal the source of the noise to the audience

  • Wide shot: Nathan stands up to investigate the noise

  • Pan: Nathan anxiously moves towards the bed

  • POV: Follows Nathan’s eyesight as he looks down to see the tankards is refilled with water, again suggesting he is being facilitated

  • High angle OSS: shows a pile of photos scattered across the bed

  • Long shot: Nathan stands by the bed and picks up the photos.

  • Cutaway close up: Shows the photos of previous victims as Nathan flicks through these

  • Mid shot: shows Nathan continuing to look at the photos, with the Title of ‘Hel’s Game’ projected on to the wall in front of him
